Flat Rate Mixing

Why flat rate mixing..

The music business has changed, expanded for artists, condensed for industry. Let's face it, the old style of monetization for the music biz is long gone, for the good I believe. Because of this, money that used to be there for top notch studios and mixers is all but dried up, so the studios have disappeared except for a select few that survive on the big business. So how do you go about finding a great mixer AND a great studio priced for today's music biz... you buy a package at a flat rate.

Why a great mixer is paramount..

Mixing is one of the most important steps in making high quality recordings, it could be argued that it's THE most important step. A great mix embodies the style that an artist is trying to capture, a sonic quality that is top notch, and a creative angle that improves the song's desirability. With the advent of the project/home studio, quality recording has become easier, more accessible, and cheaper. The line between "amateur" and "pro" recording has become very very faint. Even most major label records are at some point in a project/home studio. But when it comes to mixing the line between "amateur" and "pro" is still very bold. Why? Because mixing takes a unique combination of experience, talent, gear, and creativity that is very hard to realize, or learn from a book. It takes years of honing technique, listening, creating a system that works, then refining it.

What you get..

A kick ass mixing studio centered around an SSL 4000, with top notch outboard gear. A relevant multi-platinum producer/mixer in Aaron Johnson with over 15 years experience who understands record making from all angles. A professionally delivered master including alternates, instrumentals and TV mixes. The ability to have direct input and dialog on the overall direction, as well as one to three detailed revisions of each mix.

Submission..

Everybody knows the old computer lingo cliche.. "Garbage in garbage out". The same can be said for recording. We are not talking only about quality of recording here, although that is important, in fact it is more about quality of playing that usually makes something not sound good. Some of the best and most loved recordings were not recorded with the best quality by todays standards. But the performances and the vibe of the recordings made them great. Unfortunately it is very hard to make a poor performance sound good. We ask you to submit a rough mix of your song along with your project. If for some reason we feel we will not be able to do your mix justice, we will let you know and you will not be charged.
